JoAnne Futrell, 76, longtime Northbrook resident, passed away February 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of 52 ½ years of James; loving mother of Jim (Marlowe), Mary (Dan Staackmann), Richard (Elizabeth), Anne (John) Kenney and John (Christine); proud grandmother of Jimmy, Christopher, Matthew, Ray, Lila, baby girl Futrell arriving soon and the late Lana. JoAnne was born in Cincinnati; she attended St. Louis University in the 1950's and became a physical therapist at St. Louis University Hospital. She met Jim at St. Louis University while they were both employed there, he as a faculty at Parks College and she as a physical therapist for the hospital. JoAnne was a member of the Woman's Club and Guild 6 of Our Lady of the Brook Parish in Northbrook. She was an active member of Knitwits, a charitable group who knits lap robes for the Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center. She was an avid gardener, loving, caring and generous mother who was loved by all who met her. Visitation Monday, February 6th from 5-7 PM at Our Lady of the Brook Worship Center, 3700 Dundee Rd., Northbrook. Visitation Tuesday, February 7 at 9:30 AM until time of funeral mass 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Brook Worship Center. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery. A luncheon will be held after the interment. In lieu of flowers please honor JoAnne's memory through a donation to Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center, Misericordia Homes or Our Lady of the Brook Parish.
